After last night’s loss to the Yankees, I saw a number of different mindsets regarding where the Red Sox stand as they progress toward the playoffs in October. For those of you who were living under a rock and didn’t catch any of the game last night, the Red Sox lost 1-0 to Cam Schlittler and the New York Yankees. They scratched out a whopping five hits…

The Red Sox survived another exhausting West Coast series, taking two of the first three games against the Athletics while their offense continued operating like it had been sedated. Jim, Nick, John, and Thayer break down Boston’s inconsistent lineup, questionable defense, bullpen concerns, and the growing pressure on the front office ahead of the trade deadline.

The biggest story is Curtis Mead’s fractured wrist, suffered almost immediately after joining the Red Sox. Jim revisits the backlash he received for questioning the initial injury assessment, while John explains the likely six-to-eight-week recovery timeline and why Mead may not return before the regular season ends.

The crew also discusses Roman Anthony resuming baseball activities, Andrew Monasterio’s unexpected offensive explosion, Romy Gonzalez’s struggles, Jumaane Jones’ strong first impression, and Boston’s reported interest in shortstops such as C.J. Abrams, Zach Neto, Jeremy Peña, and Otto Lopez.

The show closes with a heated debate about Chad Tracy’s managing, Boston’s inability to manufacture runs, the upcoming Dodgers series, and whether the Red Sox can survive Los Angeles without their offense finally waking up.

Key takeaways

• Curtis Mead fractured his left wrist shortly after joining Boston and could miss the remainder of the regular season.

• Jim responds to the fans who dismissed his original concerns about Mead’s injury.

• Roman Anthony has begun taking swings off a tee, but there is still no firm timetable for a rehab assignment.

• Andrew Monasterio has been one of Boston’s hottest hitters, despite remaining a defensive liability at shortstop.

• Romy Gonzalez has struggled badly after an encouraging start following his return from injury.

• Jumaane Jones has provided productive at-bats against left-handed pitching and may be earning a larger role.

• The Red Sox continue exploring the shortstop market, with C.J. Abrams and Zach Neto among the most intriguing possibilities.

• Boston’s offense has cooled significantly since its 15-game winning streak.

• Thayer questions Chad Tracy’s bullpen decisions and the team’s unwillingness to manufacture runs.

• The crew is divided over whether Boston can win two of three against the Dodgers.

• The trade deadline will force Craig Breslow to decide whether the Red Sox are legitimate buyers or merely “monitoring the market.”

I know it was a rough day for us yesterday, with the front office not doing much at the Trade Deadline. However, this past week our Red Sox went 4-2 winning both series against the Dodgers and Twins. One of those teams was a World Series favorite going into the year. We still are sitting in a playoff spot after these two series.

When looking at who could…

Digestive Player of the Week

This week wasn’t the best week. The Sox went 3-3 this week which continues to show they are playing like a typical .500 team. The bats did come alive at a couple of times during this past week. They put up 15 runs against the Blue Jays and then another 13 against the Reds. Good ole Abreu was a big part of a lot of the runs th…

This week wasn’t the best week for our Boston Red Sox. They started off the week strong by beating the San Francisco Giants, in the first game of the series, but unfortunately dropped the next 5 Games. I can’t stand here and say that it was all bad. We saw some flashes of good play by Ceddanne Rafaela. He was able to get some big hits this past week and…

How do we make the Red Sox better this year? No, that’s not a trick question, at least not entirely. The 2025 Red Sox have continued their five-year trend of mediocrity, hovering around the .500 mark. What makes this season especially frustrating is that for the first time in a while, the front office made legitimate offseason moves, and there was a gen…
