After sleepwalking through the first two games of the series like they were auditioning for a documentary on offensive futility, Boston erupted for six runs in the final three innings to beat the Cubs 6–1 and avoid a sweep. It was a performance that felt like a caffeinated slap in the face to anyone who watched Friday and Saturday’s debacles.
